Periodic maintenance of lifting machines
Material handling equipment, like any other object of use, wears out or can fail during work processes. The operation of lifting machines that has not been inspected or maintained from the point of view of occupational safety carries significant safety risks.
Thus, the periodic inspection of lifting machines can be considered essential, which is why laws, regulations and standards define the conditions of safe work. During such inspections, our expert staff detects, among other things, possible defects, checks the manual, compliance with standards, and – perhaps most importantly – whether the equipment can be used as intended and safe.
Key legislation:

- 16/2008 of 30 August 2008 NFGM Regulation on Safety Requirements and Certification of Conformity of Machinery
- 47/1999 of 4 August 1999 GM Regulation on the issuance of Lifting Machine Safety Regulations
- 135/2004 of 16 December 2004 GKM Decree No. 47/1999 (VIII.4.) on the issuance of the Lifting Machine Safety Regulations GM Regulation

our most important review services
Lifting machines structural examination
During the structural inspection of the lifting machine, our colleagues examine whether the lifting machine fully meets the most important criteria of intended use. Our experts will thoroughly inspect your lifting machine and detect dangerous damage, abrasions, deformations and other abnormalities that impede its functionality.
During the on-site inspection, a report is drawn up, which describes the condition and qualification of the lifting machine, identifies the detected defects and makes recommendations for their elimination. The structural inspection shall be recorded in the lifting machinery logbook and the record shall be kept until sold or scrapped.
How often is it necessary to carry it out?
The frequency of structural examination varies according to the number of plant groups (3, 4, 6, 7, 8 months), and after two structural tests of lifting machinery, one main inspection is required.
Main inspection of lifting machines
The periodic main inspection of a lifting machine is a comprehensive examination during which our colleagues examine the technical condition of the lifting machine and the conditions of its proper operation in addition to the requirements of structural testing. Damage, abrasion, permanent deformations, other abnormalities on the structural elements of the forklift are revealed, and our experts check the operability of safety devices, brakes, brake pads, clutch, emergency switch, etc. In addition, the adequacy of the number of inspection teams and the correction and elimination of defects detected during previous inspection shall be checked.
During the main inspection, a report is drawn up, which describes the condition and qualification of the lifting machine, establishes the detected defects and makes recommendations for their elimination. The main inspection shall be recorded in the lifting machinery logbook and the record shall be kept until sold or scrapped.
How often is it necessary to carry it out?
Based on the number of the plant groups, the frequency of the main test can be: 9, 12, 18, 21, 24 months.
Two lifting machine structural tests are required, one main test is required.
Lifting machinery periodic safety maintenence
During the periodic safety inspection of the lifting machine, our colleagues examine whether the device fully complies with the conditions of safety operation from both occupational safety and technical point of view. Our experts check, among other things, whether:
- the machine has not been modified,
- intact and functional control units,
- whether occupational safety warning stickers and colour markings are visible,
- whether the machine complies with the current safety regulations.
The periodic safety review is not equivalent to the main inspection or the structural inspection, but the main inspection should be carried out at the same time as the periodic safety review, after which the dates for the main and structural inspections should be reset.
During the periodic safety inspection, a report is drawn up that describes the condition and qualification of the lifting machinery, identifies the detected defects and makes recommendations for their remedy. The safety inspection shall be recorded in the lifting machinery logbook and shall be kept until sold or scrapped.
How often is it necessary to carry it out?
The periodic safety review shall be carried out every 5 years from the date of commissioning.
